Effectively Straightening Black Hair

This information is for people who are willing to invest in a straightening process that will establish and maintain shiny healthy hair with heat styling tools. 

In our context of black hair care, the term " straightening process "  means taking a properly heated hair appliance like a flat iron or a straightening comb and running it through the hair to straighten the hair.

Straightening, if done properly, provides an alternative for women who want to wear their hair straight, either sometimes, or all of the time, and would like to do so without chemicals.  If done properly, the effect of straightening with heat is temporary, and the hair reverts back to its regular texture when it is washed.

We seek to provide information on what it takes to straightening hair without damaging it in the process with the SHINE n’ SILK Treatment (a $50 personal size kit will provide around 10 treatments).

 

Step 1. Begin with Cleanser to get hair squeaky clean and then cover the entire head of hair with Restorer to penetrate, restore and rebuild hair by stabilizing and strengthening cleaned hair from the inside out after a deep cleansing shampoo or after a chemical service.            

 

Step 2. Saturate hair with Replenisher and comb through to ends.  Part your hair into 3-4 equal sections.  Use hair clips to hold hair in place.  Sit under dryer for 10 minutes

             

Step 3. Apply a few drops of Enhancer Blend into hands.Massage into hair and scalp for enhanced shine.  Comb thru to ends.  Use comb attachment on blow dryer or brush with blow dryer to blow hair completely dry.

                                                                                                  

Step 4. (optional)  Use Root Straightening Hot Comb to straighten roots if needed.  Pull a small amount of hair out and put the rest back in the clip.  Straighten one small section of hair at a time preferably starting at the back of the hair.     

                                                                            

Step 5. Mist the entire head with Director Spray.  Comb thru to ends to prepare hair for straightening and smoothing to direct your hair to stay in place to provide undeniable shine, natural hold and protection against humidity.  Use Ceramic flatiron (or curling iron) to straighten (or curl) one small section of hair at a time preferably starting at the back of the hair.  Pull a small amount of hair out and put the rest back in the clip.                                                                                                                                                                                        

Step 6. (optional)  Apply a few drops of Enhancer Blend into hands and comb thru to ends if extra shine is needed.

 

Step 7. Repeat Step 5 until all your hair is smooth and straight or curly with lots of body. Now your hair is manageable and ready to style.  Always use low-medium heat setting when reheating and re-smoothing with flat iron or hot curling irons. Style as desired.

For maintenance: 

Mist the entire head with the Replenisher Spray or Maintainer Spray for instant moisture then massage a few drops of Enhancer Blend into hair and scalp.  Comb thru from roots and leave in to penetrate and reestablish “oil-moisture balance”.  Comb thru from roots and leave in to penetrate and reestablish “oil-moisture balance”.  Towel dry hair and use cool setting on blow dryer to completely dry hair.  Always use low-medium heat setting when reheating and re-smoothing with flat iron or hot curling irons. Style as desired.

 

Night Time Treatment:

Mist the entire head with Replenisher Spray or Maintainer Spray for instant moisture then massage a few drops of Enhancer Blend into hair and scalp.  Comb thru from roots and leave in to penetrate and reestablish “oil-moisture balance” before wrapping or roller setting hair to re-smooth hair for that fresh“professional look” when you comb-out the next day.  Always use low-medium heat setting when reheating and re-smoothing with flat iron or hot curling irons. Style as desired.
